Trap Range

We offer informal Trap Shooting on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 during the months of April to October.  This is offered on first-come, first-served squad groups, with scorekeeper and puller provided.  Members may also shoot on the range with their own throwers at any other time.

Skeet Range

A single skeet range was constructed during late summer 2005. The skeet machines were upgraded to Mattarelli machines in the spring of 2008.

Construction is on-going at the range.

We shoot informal skeet on Saturdays and Sundays. During the cooler spring, fall, and winter days, we shoot at 1:00 p.m. and switch to 9:00 a.m. once the weather warms up. During spring, summer, and fall months, we also shoot skeet on Thursday afternoons at 5:30.

Rifle Ranges

There are two separate rifle ranges. One has target stands at 25, 50, 100, and 200 yards and includes a rifle house with concrete shooting benches as well as an exterior bench and concrete walkways to all target stands.

The 600 yard range has target stands at 300, 400, and 600 yards with shooting benches at the parking area. Be alert accessing the range and assure it is not in use before you drive onto the range. The range is open anytime except when skeet and trap are being used.

Pistol Ranges

There are two separate pistol ranges, an outdoor and an indoor.

The outdoor range has target stands at 25 and 50 yards along with a sheltered firing line. It is principally set up for Bullseye Pistol but hosts other disciplines as well.

Our 9-position 50 foot indoor pistol range is used mainly during the winter months and for training (Pee-Wee Gun Club and others). The range is heated and has an air-handling system for fume removal. The initial backstop is special ballistic rubber blocks with an additional steel backstop.

Both ranges are open for Members and guests.

Archery Range

The Gunnison Sportsmen’s Association is pleased to announce that we have received a grant from the Friends of the NRA for establishment of an Archery range. The range is located between the clubhouse and outdoor pistol range.  There you will find static targets from 20 to 40 yards.

Archery is a life time sport for all ages. It can be enjoyed at the club with separate access from the regular shooting areas, so both young and old can enjoy the experience without worry. We have attracted our local youth archers from 4H, the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), and the Boy/Girl Scouts. We also envision having the facilities in the future to have formal and impromptu 3D shoots and tournaments, which provide great practice and entertainment for all involved.

Access to the Archery range is available to all dues paying members.

The Archery range is a work in progress. Members are encouraged to participate in its development.
