Lifetime Memberships Awarded
Terry Schneider
Terry Schneider first joined the Gunnison Sportsmen’s Association in late 1978, when he was an active trap shooter and a regular user of the club’s ranges. Over time, his commitment deepened as he stepped into leadership—serving as a director and later as President for a couple of years. During the late 1980s, Terry also helped organize registered trap meets for several seasons, supporting the club’s competitive shooting calendar and encouraging participation among members.
Although work commitments led to a lapse in membership through parts of the late 1980s and early 1990s, Terry returned to active involvement after retiring in 1994—and has remained a dedicated member ever since. He played a key role in the design and construction of the skeet range in 2005–2006, a major milestone for the facility. Since then, he has continued to give back by helping establish and organize the skeet shooting program, ensuring the range is not only built, but actively used and enjoyed by members for years to come.
Rick Odom
Rick Odom joined the Gunnison Sportsmen’s Association in 1994 and began attending monthly meetings a couple of years later. By 1996, he was serving on the board, and over the last three decades he has been a director or officer for 28 of those 30 years. Rick credits much of his long-term dedication to the people of GSA—working alongside fellow members to strengthen the club, build community, and help shape the organization into what it is today.
Rick’s service has included hands-on leadership across a wide range of facility improvements and operations, from fencing the property and completing major concrete work at the ranges, to helping bring the skeet range to completion through coordinated effort, donations, and grant support. He has also run the trap range and worked with shooters for many years, with a particular focus on teaching safe, responsible shooting and welcoming new participants into the sport. In addition, during his time as President, Rick helped negotiate and purchase additional acreage north of the 600-yard range, and later supported improvements that enhanced member experience and long-term growth—including upgrades to the clubhouse and infrastructure that continue to benefit the club today.
